Supporting BCA Month 2023

Supporting BCA Month 2023

September 29th, 2023
Little Greene

This October, we are continuing our annual campaign in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donating 15p from the sale of every tin of paint and roll of wallpaper to our chosen charities. Learn about each charity and find out how you can show your support with our limited-edition Sample Pot pin badges…

Each year for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we partner with a selection of breast cancer charities and pledge a minimum donation of £20,000 from our sales during the month of October. Over the past 12 years, we have raised over £160,000 for these charities, with a focus on smaller, regional charities that offer practical and emotional support to those affected by breast cancer.

This year, you can actively support the cause simply by purchasing from Little Greene. Every tin of paint and roll of wallpaper sold in our stockists, showrooms and via our website will be proudly marked with a BCA ribbon sticker. If you would like to offer a little extra support, you can also purchase one of our limited-edition BCA Sample Pot pin badges, which will be available online and in our showrooms.

The proceeds raised make a huge impact to the charities we choose. Each one has been selected with a focus on providing invaluable emotional support to those undergoing breast cancer treatment, as well as those raising funds for dedicated services within the NHS. Our 2023 partner charities are: The Christie Charitable Fund, Yeovil Hospital Charity – Breast Cancer Unit Appeal, Make 2nds Count and Little Lifts.

Our Creative Director, Ruth, writes: “There is fantastic work being done by larger national charities, raising funds for cancer research, but we really wanted to be able to support those smaller charities that make a huge difference at a personal level to those undergoing treatment, supporting individuals and their families at a hugely traumatic time. We feel really privileged to be able to support these worthy, local charities, who offer much needed help, at both an emotional and practical level. Our aim with this campaign is to ensure no one goes through treatment without somewhere to turn to for emotional support or a space to share their experiences.”

The Christie Charitable Fund

The Christie Charity raises funds for the Christie NHS Foundation Trust, which is the largest single site cancer centre in Europe, treating more than 60,000 patients a year. They are based very close to the Little Greene Headquarters in Manchester.

The Charitable Fund supports The Christie as they provide enhanced services beyond what the NHS can fund. This includes a cancer information centre, wig fitting services, art room, specialised research and complimentary therapy. 82p from every £1 raised goes directly to their cancer patients, including those affected by breast cancer.

Yeovil Hospital Charity – Breast Cancer Unit Appeal

Yeovil Hospital Charity is currently fundraising to create a dedicated Breast Cancer Unit which will mean that all their breast cancer services are in one place. They plan to place this dedicated unit next to their Women’s Hospital, where patients will receive biopsies, mammograms, ultrasounds and consultations, as well as having access to support groups and wellbeing activities.

Thanks to generous support from fundraisers including Little Greene, they have now exceeded their £2 million target. They are continuing to raise funds due to rising costs and hope to begin construction in Winter 2023.

Make 2nds Count

Make 2nds Count is dedicated to giving hope and support to people living with secondary breast cancer, with a focus on research, support and education.

The charity funds secondary breast cancer research and contribute to increasing the quality of life of patients. They work with oncologists, health researchers and scientists who carry out world-leading research into the underfunded area of secondary breast cancer.

The charity also aims to increase quality of life through their invaluable support programme, by offering practical advice and support to those who are affected by secondary breast cancer. Their 2nds Support Hub includes online resources and regional events across the UK.

Their third focus is education, raising awareness about secondary breast cancer through programmes, partnerships with other charities and organisations, and national campaigns including Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Little Lifts

Little Lifts provides support to those with breast cancer through thoughtful, handpicked gift packages. They offer all breast cancer patients a free ‘Little Lifts Box’ when they start treatment, filled with mood-boosting goodies as well as practical products to aid treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

In their boxes, Little Lifts aim to use locally and ethically sourced products made in the UK. So far, they have provided more than 14,000 Little Lifts Boxes through hospital partnerships and their Little Kindness Fund. On their website, Little Lifts also provide an abundant collection of resources including recipes, advice pieces and wellbeing tips.
