Little Greene

This year, we will be showing our support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2023 by donating a percentage of our paint and wallpaper sales during October to a selection of breast cancer charities. We’re looking back on Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2022 to find out how your donations made a difference to the charities we supported…

Our BCA Month 2022 charities

Every year, we select a handful of charities to support during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The charities we choose provide valuable emotional, practical and wellbeing support to those affected by breast cancer, through informational resources, workshops and more.

Our selected charities for BCA Month 2022 included Breast Cancer Unit Appeal – Yeovil Hospital Charity, The Christie Charitable Fund, Flat Friends and Keeping Abreast. Read updates from The Christie, Breast Cancer Unit Appeal – Yeovil Hospital Charity and Keeping Abreast and learn the ways your donations have helped to support their important work…

The Christie Charitable Fund

Based locally to Little Greene in Manchester, The Christie is the largest single site cancer centre in Europe, treating more than 60,000 patients per year. Their charitable fund provides enhanced services for those affected by cancer, with a calendar of fundraising events to support their vital work.

To mark our support of The Christie during BCA Month 2022, Little Greene has been given a commemorative coin on the charity’s recognition wall.

Lisa Clark, Corporate Fundraising Manager at The Christie, writes: “With the help of our supporters, we will continue to fund ground-breaking projects to ensure The Christie is at the leading edge of cancer care.

We are constantly striving to bring the best treatment, research and care to our patients, and we simply could not do this without the generosity of our supporters. Little Greene’s gift is greatly appreciated and will truly make a difference to the lives of our patients.”

Keeping Abreast

Established in 2007, Keeping Abreast offers support to those who are undoing breast cancer treatment and facing the possibility of mastectomy. This includes advice and practical help as well as a place for people to share their experiences.

Thanks to the support of fundraisers such as Little Greene, in 2022, Keeping Abreast distributed 485 informational ‘Pink Packs’, 103 Comfort and Care Bags, and over 1250 leaflets. With 162 registered volunteers, they were able to offer 50 face-to-face support groups and helped over 80 breast reconstruction patients over the phone or email.

Little Greene was also able to sponsor their incredible ‘More Than Just Fashion’ Shows, as volunteers and friends braved the catwalk to raise approximately £6,000 in support of the work of Keeping Abreast. Some supporters enjoyed wearing our Little Greene x BCA Month aprons in fabulous matching bright pink!

Yeovil Hospital Charity – Breast Cancer Unit Appeal

Yeovil Hospital Charity have been fundraising to create a dedicated Breast Cancer Unit next to their Women’s Hospital, which will allow patients to receive all of their care in one place. With the help of Little Greene customers, they have now exceeded their £2 million target and construction on the site will begin this winter.

James Kirton, Head of Fundraising, says:

“We are raising funds for the area’s first dedicated Breast Cancer Unit because we want breast cancer patients to have all of their tests and appointments in one place. At the moment, people have to get undressed in different locations and there is nowhere private for people to spend time after receiving a cancer diagnosis. With the help of Little Greene and all of their wonderful customers, we are going to build a specialist unit which will have all of the facilities that are needed, including lots of comfortable space for difficult conversations.”
