Brodsworth featured in Elizabeth Gaskell’s House
We are delighted to reveal that Brodsworth – Consort is featured in The Brontë Room, a new permanent exhibition space at Elizabeth Gaskell’s House in Manchester. Part of our London V Wallpapers collection, the striking design joins a number of Little Greene wallpapers already in place at the historic house.
Elizabeth Gaskell’s House is a vibrant and interactive museum, situated just a mile from Manchester City Centre. A Grade II-listed property, it has been thoughtfully and carefully restored over the past few years, to offer visitors an insight into the family home of celebrated Victorian author, Elizabeth Gaskell.
Little Greene has previously provided nineteenth-century wallpaper designs for the restoration of the Morning Room, Study and Master Bedroom. Our latest donation has transformed the new Brontë Room with the elegant statement wallpaper, Brodsworth – Consort.
An intricate design showing a combination of birds, floral motifs and decorative elements, Brodsworth – Consort is the perfect choice for this space. It was discovered in the library and morning room of another Victorian home, Brodsworth Hall in South Yorkshire. It offers an air of authenticity which integrates the exhibition space within the rest of the house.
Open from September 2022, the Brontë Room invites visitors to explore the themes of Elizabeth Gaskell’s writing and consider how they reflect her own life experiences. It celebrates the progressive women that were known to Elizabeth and her family, particularly her great friend and esteemed writer, Charlotte Brontë.
