Kitchen paint colours
Your kitchen is the heart of the home, a room you spend time in every day, and a place to welcome family and friends. This part of your home is perfect for embracing colours that will create a warm, inviting environment.
Select shades for your kitchen scheme by exploring colours in the Little Greene palette. Discover which paint finishes we recommend for painting your kitchen, including kitchen walls, woodwork, cabinetry, tiles and more...
Neutral kitchen paint
Neutrals are a versatile option for kitchen schemes. These shades sit comfortably in any space, from both spacious, open-plan kitchens to characterful cottage designs. When selecting a white hue for your kitchen, it’s important to consider the undertones of your chosen shade.
White kitchen paint colours with warm undertones will create a gentle environment that is easy to live with. Consider shades like Flint, China Clay and Mushroom to bring subtle, inviting warmth to your kitchen scheme.
Green kitchen paint
A wonderful alternative to neutral, green is a smart choice for kitchen schemes. We feel comfortable with green, as we are used to seeing this shade in our natural surroundings. Introducing green in your kitchen will instil peace and tranquillity. Green is perfect for busy family kitchens where you want to create a feeling of calm.
Our green kitchen paint colours range from soothing blue-green hues to natural sage greens and luxurious teals. Or consider vibrant greens for a colour highlight.
Grey kitchen paint
For many centuries, grey paint shades have provided an elegant and understated backdrop for interiors. The colour grey works well when it features in several rooms, or in open-plan living spaces. Using this approach will help to create natural flow throughout your home.
In dark, north-facing rooms, grey kitchen paint can sometimes feel slightly cold and uninviting. To avoid this, choose a grey that contains noticeable warmth, for example an elegant, green-based grey like Normandy Grey.
Blue kitchen paint
Blue is a colour that many of us feel comfortable with in our homes. This shade is therefore a great choice to introduce some colour and personality into your kitchen scheme. Your kitchen cabinets are a fabulous host for blue kitchen paint.
There are many options to choose from, whether you prefer a classic light blue or a bold navy like Hicks’ Blue. To create impact, consider embracing blue on your walls, cabinetry and woodwork for an all-over, colour-drenched look.
Yellow kitchen paint
Kitchens are often fast-paced environments that see lots of activity throughout the day. A bright and cheerful yellow colour palette will complement a lively, energetic kitchen setting. Yellow is a welcoming paint colour that exudes warmth, positivity and joy. It can be ideal for a sociable kitchen where you entertain guests.
For a burst of sunshine, incorporate vibrant yellows like Giallo and Indian Yellow. Or use golden honey tones like Bombolone on all elements of your space for encompassing warmth.
Pink kitchen paint
Soft and inviting, pink is a much-loved choice for creating a kitchen that exudes a warm, homely feel. Using pink in place of a neutral to paint your kitchen walls will provide enveloping warmth, cosiness and comfort. Consider a muted pink kitchen paint shade like Mochi, which pairs beautifully with dark neutral cabinetry to ground the scheme.
Brown kitchen paint
Many kitchens contain hard, reflective surfaces that can feel quite harsh. Incorporating layered, natural hues can help to create a cosy ambience instead. Brown paint colours provide a warm earthiness that creates a connection with our natural environment. Use brown kitchen paint to pair with natural materials like stone tiled floors, wooden furniture, jute and rattan accessories.
Kitchen paint finishes
As a high-traffic space, kitchens experience lots of everyday wear and tear. It’s important to choose a hard-wearing, durable kitchen paint that is also fully washable.
We recommend using Intelligent Matt Emulsion for kitchen walls
This washable kitchen paint finish has a beautiful low sheen of just 2%. Intelligent Matt Emulsion is robust enough to withstand all the activity of a modern family kitchen.
Any marks or stains can easily be washed away with warm, soapy water. Your painted surface will maintain a smooth finish and beautiful appearance.
This eco-friendly, water-based paint means you can complete your kitchen decorating project quickly and easily. Intelligent Grip™ brings the technology of the primer into the topcoat. You can therefore achieve long-lasting durability without needing a separate primer. This paint is also certified child-safe, ensuring your kitchen is completely safe for little hands.

For a slightly more durable finish, or in kitchens that are not well ventilated, use Intelligent Eggshell, which has a subtle low sheen of 10-15%.
We recommend using Intelligent Satin for kitchen cabinets, woodwork and more
With an elegant mid-sheen of 30-35%, this hard-wearing paint finish has been specially formulated for painting interior woodwork in high-traffic parts of the home. This water-based paint will withstand knocks and bumps delivered to kitchen surfaces, cabinets, woodwork and furniture.
Thanks to Intelligent Grip™ technology, you can now use Intelligent Satin to transform a whole range of kitchen surfaces. The list includes ceramic kitchen tiles, Formica or melamine cabinetry, uPVC windows and more. With this paint, you can achieve the perfect finish without needing a separate primer.
Apply Intelligent Satin directly to the surface to achieve the same excellent adhesion and long-lasting durability expected from a primer. Available in all Little Greene colours, Intelligent Satin allows you to incorporate every available surface into your kitchen transformation.

Selecting a colour for your kitchen scheme
As with any room, the colours you choose for your kitchen can have a huge impact on the look and atmosphere of the space. When considering what colour to paint your kitchen , it’s important to ask yourself a few questions. Consider how you want to feel when you are in your kitchen, and what you will use the space for.
Do you want a kitchen that will boost your mood each morning and set your day off to a positive start? Or is it more important that your kitchen feels relaxed and inviting, the perfect space to enjoy a cosy cup of coffee?
Once you have these things in mind, you can begin researching colours that will fulfil these requirements.
Other things to consider are the size of your kitchen, and the amount and direction of light in the space. If you have a small kitchen that doesn’t have much natural light, don’t try to change the natural feel of the space. Instead, think about how you can create a cosy setting that is full of character and warmth. Using richly coloured hues alongside ambient lighting and natural materials will help to achieve this look.
Before you order your paint, we always recommend ordering sample pots to test in your kitchen space.
Kitchen paint FAQs
Can you paint kitchen cabinets?
Little Greene’s Intelligent Satin paint finish is ideal for painting kitchen cabinets. As a true multi-surface paint, you can use Intelligent Satin to transform kitchen cabinet doors made of traditional wood. You can also elevate Formica, melamine and uPVC.
Our Intelligent Paints are available in the complete Little Greene colour palette. This means you can incorporate your kitchen cabinets into an existing kitchen scheme. Or, you can complete a full transformation that embraces every surface of the space.
To paint your kitchen cabinets, first prepare the surface by removing handles, and cleaning and sanding the surface to provide a key. Intelligent Satin has a built-in primer, so you can paint directly onto bare or previously painted surfaces, using a brush or roller. For best results, we recommend applying two full coats of paint, allowing to dry for 1-4 hours between coats.

Can you paint kitchen tiles?
Little Greene’s upgraded Intelligent Paints are suitable for painting kitchen tiles. Using Intelligent Grip™ technology, these groundbreaking finishes combine primer and topcoat in a single tin of paint. Our Intelligent Paints will adhere securely to all common household surfaces, including tiles, with no separate primer.
For painting tiles, we recommend Intelligent Eggshell, Satin or Gloss. These fully washable paints will protect the surface of kitchen tiles, delivering a hard-wearing, durable coating with beautiful depth of colour. Simply clean and lightly sand the surface, before applying two coats of your chosen paint finish, available in all our colours.
These self-priming finishes allow you to complete striking kitchen transformations that incorporate every surface. They are perfect for creating all-over, colour-drenched schemes, with walls, woodwork, cabinetry and tiles all painted in a single colour. Or create a beautiful, cohesive scheme by choosing coordinating colours for the different elements of your space.
