Invite nature indoors with spring greens and botanical prints
As we start spending more time in the outdoors, the start of spring can result in a strong desire to re-create this sense of connection with nature inside our homes too. The true colour of nature, greens of all shades can help to bring the outdoors in, evoking an atmosphere of positivity, calm and wellbeing.
Ruth writes: “It’s not just the colour green that can be used to invite nature indoors. Leaf prints and foliage-based patterns can be used alongside a myriad of green colours to really bring a sense of the outdoors inside the home.”

“Transitional spaces such as boot rooms, larders or a downstairs loo are wonderful spaces to experiment with brave, playful interiors, featuring bold colours and patterns. Smaller rooms, or spaces where you don’t spend much time, can still be packed full of character. Although these are often neglected spots when it comes to design consideration, these are the perfect places to follow your heart and add character with a delightfully spirited wallpaper.”
Consider Rodney Street, a lively design with a charming tree print that creates instant association with the outdoors. Bright, confident green wallpaper colourways like Rodney Street – Sage & Onions or Broad Stripe – Pea Green will bring your interiors to life, whilst feeling very comfortable in the home.
Embrace a bold spring colour palette with Double Drenching
There is no better time to incorporate bright and mood-boosting colours than the beginning of spring, creating spaces that will bring you lasting joy throughout the year. The past few years have seen a real boost in colour confidence, with many of us opting for more vibrant shades in our homes. Double Drenching provides a bold and contemporary way to embrace colour in your schemes.
Ruth writes: “A Double Drenching approach is about fully enveloping a space with colour. There is no space for white ceilings or skirting with this decorating style. Instead use two or more related colours with varying undertones to drench your interior from top to bottom. A single colour can make a space feel one-dimensional, whereas multiple variations of a colour can create a more layered, dynamic look.”
“Double drenching can work well in spaces where you are looking to add a colour highlight, providing a harmonious base for pops of contrasting colour. Our fresh and inviting Sky Blue brings the joyful summer sun indoors. Combine with the versatile clean blue-green shade of Brighton and muted blue, Etruria, to provide a fantastic background to the strong and contemporary burnt orange, Heat.
Or use multiple shades of warm yellows to provide a visually interesting base for additional pops of colour. A painted chair in Atomic Red will create a confident and unexpected scheme, bringing joy and design interest to a kitchen or dining space.”
Add a ray of spring sunshine with energising bright yellows
At this time of year, we begin to see more sunshine in the world around us, and many of us seek to maximise and enhance the natural light within our homes. Using yellow is a wonderful way to create spaces that feel like they are bathed in gentle spring sunshine all year round.
Ruth writes: “Yellow is a shade that provides a sense of positivity in a space, encouraging emotions that can help us feel uplifted, happy and energised. Embrace sunshine yellow hues like Giallo and Indian Yellow to inject joy into your interior. For a real burst of joyful colour, incorporate your walls, ceiling and woodwork into the scheme for an encompassing finish.”

If embracing bright yellow all over feels a little overwhelming, consider adding a cheerful colour highlight in just one part of your space. A simple pop of colour can bring a boost of energy and create a beautiful, warm welcome.
Ruth continues: “For a refined and creative scheme, use delicate, powder-like hue, Masquerade, on walls, woodwork and skirting, combined with muted rosy pink, Blush, on the ceiling. Paint every available surface in varying pinks for a ‘Double Drenching’ aesthetic that will feel cohesive and engaging. For a pop of contrasting colour, highlight a window frame or door in delightful, pretty yellow, Light Gold, which will bring a surprising design detail to a pink hued space.”
Bring all-over transformation with an inspiring spring mural
Introducing a wallpaper is one of the most effective ways to transform the feel and atmosphere of any room. With their large-scale designs, mural wallpapers that evoke nature can envelop a scheme with a truly inspiring backdrop. They are perfect for rooms where you want to awaken your imagination, such as a creative home study or a children’s playroom.
For your seasonal refresh, consider murals that reflect an air of springtime, such as Bird & Bluebell – Pea Green. Featuring beautiful natural greenery, flowers and wildlife, this elegant design will fill your interiors with a tranquil and uplifting atmosphere.
Ruth writes: “Our new ‘Potter’s Woodland’ design depicts a gentle scene that brings Beatrix Potter’s love of nature around her rural home in Cumbria to life. Detailed drawings of characterful woodland creatures including hedgehogs, foxes, frogs, otters and cheeky field mice from Potter’s unpublished sketchbooks are nestled amongst colourful flowers and painterly trees creating an inviting and imaginary woodland world for little minds to explore.
With four seasonal colourways from Spring to Solstice, it’s easy to scheme with a myriad of colours and styles, from gentle neutrals and softer pastel hues or bold, bright colours and patterns in an older child’s room. It’s a design that will bring joy as children grow.”
