London-based Canadian fashion designer, Edeline Lee selected Little Greene shades for the showcase of her Spring/Summer 2019 collection at London Fashion Week.

The immersive show was inspired by the lives of contemporary women, repeating every fifteen minutes with scenes incorporating a red carpet arrival, runway show and after-party.

  • 18th Century Wallpapers

London was the epicentre of the emerging wallpaper industry in the 18th century and many of the designs reproduced by Little Greene originate from particular London addresses. Some can even be identified with a particular room in the house.

    Woodblock Trail - Union (1735)

Although paper making and printing was still undertaken entirely by hand, there was already a variety of innovative print effects such as 'flocking' and the cheaper version, 'mock flock.'

    Albemarle St - Astral & Vapour (1760)

    Cranford - Wheat (1765)

By the end of the century, paper hangers were regularly decorating rooms using full lengths of pre-printed paper to achieve the same effect as a traditional artisan decorator, who would have painted individual scenes around the walls of a room for an all-over effect.

    Woodblock Mono - Knightsbridge (1735)

  • Sampling Colours Within The Home

There is no avoiding that testing colours in situ is an essential part of the journey of choosing colour. All 191 shades in the Little Greene palette are available in 60ml tester pots.

Many site-specific factors will affect the way colours appear - the two main ones being lighting conditions and adjacent colours.

With this in mind, it's a good idea to test in more than one location, applying two coats over as large an area as you can. Observe them in daylight and artificial light, the difference can be quite significant. Avoid positioning small swatches of several colours immediately next to one another - each will affect the way the others read.

Also, try to avoid comparing the swatch to bright white as this can be misleading.
