Who do you recommend uses our Little Greene Colour Consultancy service?
Charlotte: “Everyone! From those who are feeling completely overwhelmed at the prospect of designing a whole house, to those who just need confirmation about their choices and some inspiration thrown in. Nowadays, lots of people are ‘time poor’ and too busy to be searching around for sample pots and inspiration. Those who love interior design and décor want their homes to look as beautiful as possible, and that is where I come in!”
What are the first steps when you are giving a Colour Consultation?
Charlotte: “After you book a Colour Consultation with me and we have the initial chat about your project, I always send out a pre-visit questionnaire to gather as much information as possible about the spaces you are decorating and your existing ideas. I ask my clients, if possible, to send me photos of the rooms and any inspiration they may have saved. This ensures we are both fully prepared and can make the most of the hour’s appointment.”
What kinds of projects do you enjoy working on most?
Charlotte: “Every project is rewarding, whether it’s just two rooms or a whole house renovation. I thoroughly enjoy seeing all types of properties – I am forever being inspired. I do love designing kitchens and dining rooms. They are usually the most-used rooms, and the heart of a home. These kinds of spaces allow you to be expressive and show your own personal style. The possibilities are endless with lots to consider, and there’s also the opportunity to add your favourite, stronger colours or bold wallpapers in adjoining areas such as utility/pantry rooms to add interest and an element of surprise!”

Being a Little Greene Colour Consultant really is the best job in the world. I get to visit and work on the most beautiful homes, making your experience of choosing colour enjoyable and stress-free! The thing I love most is hearing my clients’ feedback at the end of the session, especially comments like ‘I can feel excited again about my renovation’. I also love working with the amazing showroom team in Wilmslow – it truly is a team effort.”
What are the most important things to consider when selecting colours and wallpapers for a space?
Charlotte: “Apart from important considerations such as the aspect of room, lighting and fixed fittings, I always ask my clients what time of day the room is likely to be used the most. If a room is mostly used to relax in the evenings, it’s good to imagine how the colour or wallpaper will feel with lower lighting. I also try to understand how you would like your space to ‘feel’. I find that listening carefully to my client’s brief, finding out what overall ‘look and feel’ they would like to achieve, helps me immensely when recommending colours.
My top tip for creating a beautiful, personal scheme would be to look for inspiration. Create a mood board on Pinterest, or look at interior magazines, and you will start to notice which colours and styles you are drawn to the most. Trust your instincts, and don’t worry about what others may think. It’s also always good to have a starting point. Whether it’s a piece of art, a favourite throw or a family heirloom, take inspiration from this and work from there.”
Charlotte’s project…
For this stunning contemporary home, Charlotte selected paint colours that would provide a beautiful backdrop to her clients’ bold, statement prints and botanical décor.
Clay – Pale features in the hallway and main living areas to complement the open-plan layout and the abundance of natural light. She then introduced rich, natural greens like Olive Colour, Ambleside and Boringdon Green in the bedrooms and dressing rooms to add personality and flair.
In Charlotte’s favourite scheme from the project, she took a ‘Double Drenching’ approach to transform the bar area. Invisible Green walls combine strikingly with Harley Green on the ceiling for a dark, captivating pairing that’s perfect for an entertaining space. Discover more double-drenched schemes
