Wishing you all a happy Jubilee weekend…
HRH her Majesty The Queen’s reign over the last 60 years is a fantastic achievement and we’re struck by how much Britain has changed in this time.
In researching some of our recent projects – in particular paints and wallpapers from the 1950s, 60s and 70s – we have examined some fabulous archive material, all of it testament to the changing perspectives, beliefs and expectations of British consumers, and what we now call the interiors industry. Just a couple of generations ago, interior design was the preserve of the elite… and today it’s a subject valued by almost everyone, from castles to cottages, town houses to studio apartments, and hotels to housing estates.
Our work with English Heritage has given us unique insights into the past. It’s with real delight that we’ve been able to resurrect colours and patterns that once graced the walls of some of England’s most noble homes.
And in our collaborations with the Prince’s Foundation, through which we share a sustainable vision for the future, we can take courage, positivity and inspiration to shape a world in which we and future generations can lead fulfilling lives and grow old safely, securely and happily.
Britain is known all over the world for doing things well – we as a nation have, for centuries, been gripped by the pursuit of quality. It’s something we at Little Greene feel very strongly about, and we hope this comes across in our products and service too.
So (glass of Pimms anyone?!) cheers to the hundreds of inventors, scientists, creatives and pioneers of industry that have sought to make the world the place it is today, and cheers Ma’am, on your stewardship of a really great Britain.
